Philadelphia Diesel Difference Working Group

• Should this group promote regulatory approaches?

Vision Statement
• Does the definition of air toxic/toxic emissions include particulates? Should this
groups’ vision address particulate matter?
• Need a broader introduction…Philadelphia has an air pollution problem…
• Discussion regarding the words “diesel engines”:

o All diesel vehicles
o Marine fleets
o On and off-road sources
o Fleets with multiple units
o Heavy duty fleets

• Discussion on diverse partners (see Membership in Parking Lot)
• What are market-based strategies?
• The word “voluntary” needs to target user groups who are not regulated.
• Changes made to various sentences to capture the voluntary nature of the work
within the group’s vision.

Purpose
• Add “forum to exchange ideas” to first sentence.
• Add education/outreach in addition to “manufacture…” to third sentence
• Should the word regulatory be in the purpose?

Goals
• Add “EPA verified technologies” to #1
• #5 needs more work to capture education/outreach in regards to funding opps.,
technologies, incentives, etc.

Logistics for next Meeting(s)
• DVRPC will host next meeting the week of August 4th; unsure if they will be able
to host all meetings.
