RECOGNITION PROGRAM

The Philadelphia Diesel Difference Working Group recognizes fleets that implement clean diesel technologies at three levels: Platinum, Gold, and Silver.

PLATINUM

A. Status given only to a select group of fleets, which have demonstrated
outstanding clean diesel technology initiatives.
B. Recognizes the implementation of EPA/CARB verified technologies AND clean diesel fuels on a diesel powered fleet that result in an 30% or greater reduction in overall particulate matter and hydrocarbon emissions, as expressed by the methodology retained within the Criteria Committee Emissions Reduction Calculation Guide.
C. Fleets can add up to 5% additional credit to their overall particulate matter and hydrocarbon emissions reduction for factors such as individualized fleet characteristics, the population(s) affected by the project, and financial contributions from fleets and vendors.
D. Recognition includes a press conference where a plaque
will be presented, a press release, a clean diesel decal, and a success story.

GOLD

A. Recognizes the implementation of EPA/CARB verified technologies AND/OR clean diesel fuels on a diesel powered fleet that result in an 20% or greater reduction in overall particulate matter and hydrocarbon emissions, as expressed by the methodology retained within the Criteria Committee Emissions Reduction Calculation Guide.
B. Fleets can add up to 5% additional credit to their overall particulate matter and hydrocarbon emissions reduction for factors such as individualized fleet characteristics, the population(s) affected by the project, and financial contributions from fleets and vendors.
C. Recognition includes a press release, a clean diesel decal, and a success
story.

SILVER

A. Recognizes clean diesel behavior, which can include the implementation
of anti-idling policies and devices, non-EPA/CARB verified technologies, and/or EPA AND/OR CARB-verified technologies for a diesel fleet.
B. Recognition includes a success story, which will be published on the Diesel
Difference website and/or on other media sanctioned by the Diesel Difference.

* The Diesel Difference Criteria Sub-committee will recommend, as needed, modifications to the above criteria, in order to stay abreast of modifications in the clean diesel marketplace.
