I. GENERAL DESCRIPTION

  • The "Philadelphia Diesel Difference" is a coalition of diverse stakeholders whose primary purpose is to reduce the air pollutants associated with diesel-powered engines in the greater Philadelphia area. The coalition encourages the voluntary implementation of clean diesel technologies and the use of innovative strategies, including market-based approaches. The Philadelphia Diesel Difference's activities are coordinated by the Philadelphia Diesel Difference Working Group, referred to below as the "Working Group."

Organizational Status

  • The Philadelphia Diesel Difference is not a corporation or membership organization. All decisions of the Philadelphia Diesel Difference Working Group are subject to final approval by the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, Air Management Services. While the participants in Philadelphia Diesel Difference and its Working Group may be referred to as "members," such membership is honorary and such persons shall not have the rights of members under the Pennsylvania Nonprofit Corporation Law of 1988, as amended.

Geographic Scope

  • The Working Group is currently focused on reductions of diesel engine emissions in Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware, and Chester Counties in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It is anticipated that the States of Delaware and/or New Jersey may choose to participate. In this case, the group will expand its focus to appropriate regions of these States.
